Primary Function and Scope:

Set up and fabricate minor detail work on conventional and numerical control machines.

Fits and assembles components to build one of a kind special purpose machines and equipment by performing, but not limited to, the duties listed below.

Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.**

+ Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. **

+ Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.

+ Selects, aligns and secures fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

+ Must be able to perform a series of machining operations on metal work pieces such as A2, 4140PH, O-1, S.S., 1018, Aluminum, etc.

+ Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media, as required.

+ Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

+ Lays out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly.

+ Fits and assembles parts into complete assemblies, as required.

+ Verifies dimensions and alignment of completed assemblies, as required.

+ Installs machined replacement parts, mechanisms, machines and equipment per assembly blueprints

+ Tests operation of unit by hand to ensure functionality and performance.

+ Aids with machine debug, including but not limited to;

+ Set up and align sensors (prox switches, photo eyes, hall-effect sensors)

+ Modify tooling as needed to eliminate interferences.

+ Operate machine during early debug.

+ Assemble customer parts, as needed, for debug or troubleshooting.

+ Keeps work area clean.

+ Willing and able to work overtime including weekends.

+ Observe safety procedures including but not limited to wearing proper hearing and vision protection with side shields and sturdy footwear.

+ Any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations.

Position Requirements

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.(1)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School degree or GED with 4+ years work experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background as machinist or toolmaker with a mechanical aptitude a must.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Good command of the English language; reading, writing and comprehension. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Wide variety of duties requiring considerable judgment to work independently such as devising new methods, adapting or changing standard procedures to meet new conditions, and making decisions guided by precedent and within established policies.

OTHER: Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload. Organizational skills, flexibility, integrity and ability to work independently. Willing to travel and work overtime if necessary.
