Electrician Journeyman

As an NCCER Journeyman Electrician you will be responsible for installing and repairing electrical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

Specific responsibilities: This job is in Cameron, Louisiana and job site located in Port Arthur.

+ Installing power supply wiring and conduit such as: EMT, O-CAL, Rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays

+ Troubleshooting electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, motors, panels, and circuits

+ Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems such as: switch gears, motor controls, electrical panels, CT cabinets, conveyor systems, lighting, and power supplies

+ Maintaining current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations

+ Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system

+ Inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

+ Directing or training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures

+ Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

Specific requirements:

+ Must be able to work 5/10's and OT

+ Supervises and trains Electrician Helpers.

+ Works outdoors in all weather conditions.

+ Reads and understands blueprints.

+ Assists in modifying or planning new installations to minimize waste of materials and provide access for future maintenance.Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before the completion of future ceilings, and floorings

+ Works around hazardous wiring.

+ Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using rulers, hand tools, power tools.

+ Splices wires using hand tools, soldering equipment, tape or terminal gaps

+ Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.

+ Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels

+ Unwinds and pulls cable.

+ Connects power cable to equipment using hand tools.

+ Tests the installed equipment for safety and electrical compatibility

+ Disassembles defective electrical equipment.

+ Loads transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

+ May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

+ 4 years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical

+ Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

+ Re-stocks supplies and materials as necessary.

+ Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.

+ Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.

+ Performs a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.

+ Safely operates power tools and equipment.

+ Adheres to all safety procedures.Ability to follow electrical code manuals to install and repair electrical systems

+ Understand schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications required by our client

+ Experience working with hand tools, power tool and electronic test equipment

+ Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation

+ High standard of integrity and professionalism

+ Drug free at all times
